Outline the story …

My first inspiration was the spider webs in the rain. It has fascinated me since my childhood. It's like the meeting of jewelry and nature. My second inspiration is obviously corsets. So I wondered how to combine spiders and a corset. I thought of making a crack in the corset, from which a lot of spiders would come out, like an outbreak. This fault is also like a geode opening, a glimpse of mother earth, an organic and mineral mixture. I have wanted to participate in this contest for many years. This year I told myself it was now. Because of my job, I unfortunately didn't have time to do the ambitious project I wanted. For the photo I had fun representing myself in the dark side of mother nature.

Outline the construction…

For the construction of the corset, I was inspired by Edwardian corsets, to which I added balconies. Then I covered the structure with black satin cutouts. This construction allowed me to introduce the decoration that hides the busk. The corset is in white horsehair and nude tulle, covered with black silk satin. I cut the satin to hide all the bone cages. For the embroidery I made a mix of black pearls, mother-of-pearl and rhinestones. I dyed some of the pearls to have a variety of colors. The spider web on the side and embroidered in beads. I added a small spider loaded with a sewing machine spool that comes out of the web. It is a parallel reference between the work of the seamstress and that of the spider. Like two working sisters. I sewed this cotset in 10 days.
