Wild blue yonder
Outline the story …
The inspiration behind this design is firstly derived from the kimono, which is an immaculate, beautiful artistic garment, found in traditional Japanese wear. I paired the concept of the previously mentioned with my love for streetwear, to design this Kimono-inspired jacket, made for the unconventional male who is not afraid to wear daring garments. The use of blue and white gives it a sky-blue effect, thus the name "wild blue yonder".
Outline the construction…
When constructing this Kimono I made use of Tencel and cotton denim which are both sustainable fabrics and for the trimmings, I paired the kimono with a buckle and buckle strap as well as a button. I also lined the Kimono jacket with recyclable scuba to give it that luxurious soft feeling on the inside, the initial process of making the kimono was reasonably easy (I made use of a youtube video to analyze the construction of the kimono .)
The flap, tie strings, as well as pocket, were actually add-ons I came up with as I was sewing, as I felt the kimono jacket was looking plain and I wanted to be more creative, thus I thought of the flap and tie concept which is cool and gives off that extra streetwear feel I was thriving to accomplish.
I sewed the scuba lining and outer shell separately then added the flap and pocket to the outer shell, thereafter I joined the scuba lining and outer shell together and add the finishing trimmings.
I keep coming back and making heart eyes at this, great job and gorgeous pictures!
Beautiful!!! Thank you for the opportunity.
