Queen of Hearts

Outline the story …
I created a glamorous interpretation of the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland. For this piece, I was inspired by Hollywood cinema from the 40s and 50s. for this I decided to work with a construction inspired by merrywidow. I have always looked for a form of flexibility in my work. or the merrywediw was generally quite flexible but with good support. I therefore worked in this logic, with a flexible fabric and also flexible metal corset bones. This solution allowed me to have a very spectacular waistline restriction. I added on the chest part a drape in the shape of a rose which forms a heart. This part is made in a very thick silk fabric. which gives it this very particular rendering. I completely created my pattern with the method I created. for the part of the chest, I just integrated a pattern of my own making as well. I am also a lingerie manufacturer. I therefore also work on the bras.
Outline the construction…
I worked by looking at photos of merrywidow to define where to place my seams and boning. for the fabric I used blocked mesh fabric as well as some stretch fabric for the back of the reeds. my idea of keeping as much flexibility as possible.
Beautiful work, i love the roses on the bust they’re really well done. The pinup feel is really nice for this look.
