Nyarlathotep
Outline the story …
And it was then that Nyarlathotep came out of Egypt. Who he was, none could tell, but he was of the old native blood and looked like a Pharaoh. - Nyarlathotep H.P. Lovecraft (https://tinyurl.com/59fvxspp)
Egyptology and tentacle monsters are two of my favorite things, even have the tattoo to match. When I saw the theme this year, I knew right away, it would be Nyarlathotep. A corseted bodysuit had been my current design obsession so my path way pretty much laid out. Every decision was organic, I wasn't sure on the details until I started sewing and playing around with how the fabrics looked and then just went with whatever I thought fit and liked the look of.
Outline the construction…
I've been working on a corset bodysuit and have been using a pattern I created from plastic wrap and duct taping my dress form. This is it's 8th variation and I'm still trying to perfect it. Each project gets me a little bit closer. This was my first time adding hip fins and I did so, on a whim, because I love them! I used canvas for my strength layer and headbonded that to the stretchy black pleather to act as one. I had the gold high-shine pleated fabric and matching netting, waiting in my stash waiting for its time. The tentacles are wire and polyfill! Breast cups and lining are usually the things that give me most trouble. Getting the lining to match up and sit nicely was a struggle, after a couple tries and a lot of pins, I managed to get it. I still need to adjust the cups to fit better, this time the center front was floating off the body, it may fix itself with better fitting cups. Overall, this bodysuit has the best fit so far, and showed me a few other things I can improve on!
Oh my, this is so gorgeous and well done, the details at the hip just have me drooling all over the place. very, very well done!
Amazing textures and styling
The cups are always a problem but you have done a great job. I love the inspiration and the result.
Great work! I especially love the tentacles; that was such a creative and elegant way to add that element to your work. And the corset turned out great!
I’m so impressed at the whole thing, especially the hip area !
This set is truly sublime. Lovecraft is a real challenge in my opinion and you did it perfectly!
Fantastic work, love the tentacles!
This is so cool! I could totally see this in a music video or something like that. I love the pleated gold accents and the texture it adds. Well done!
Thank you!!
Love the combination of black and gold with the pleating and netting at the front! The breast cups came out very nicely, so well done with tackling that particularly tricky construction!
Thank you, they took me the longest to get “right”!
Such a great design! I love it
