Amy
Outline the story …
I loved the story "Little Women" by Louisa May Alcott when I was young, my favourite character was Amy with her massive personality. I admired her fearlessness and determination. I wanted to make an item that Amy would have worn while traveling with Aunt March that would remind her of her mother's love. It needed to be appropriate for a younger teen and have special details that show the love and care that a mother puts into her daughters.
Outline the construction…
My pattern was the 1890 corset W/shoulder braces from Ageless Patterns. I made a mock up from canvas and adjusted the pattern a little to make the waist appear smaller. My final piece has 3 layers, a floral cotton fashion fabric, a heavier orange twill for strength, which was also used for the binding, and a soft beige lining fabric that matched the leather for the shoulder straps. All fabric came from my Grandmother-in-law's stash. I had difficulty working out seam types so to add extra security I added cotton tape to those seams and felled them down to avoid wear and tear.
Such a sweet project idea 🖤 I have love how clothing can bring the unreachable to life. A lovely piece.
That flossing is just so beautiful- absolutely a gorgeous entry, well done <3
Ohh, that fabric is darling! I love the delicate little flowers. Also very impressed by your stick-straight boning channels!
This pattern looks quite challenging, and you did it so well! Great job ❤
Such pretty flossing!

This looks so nice, especially with the pattern you chose.
