Outline the story …
On the Great Plains of the US, the Rio Grande Wild Turkey is an elusive yet majestic bird. I saw the pattern for the petticoat several years ago and always thought is looked like feathers. Then it hit me, those are turkey feathers. So, integrating historic fashion with a modern theme seemed perfect for this competition.
Outline the construction…
The petticoat is constructed using tunisian simple stitch in fingering weight wool blends.
The shawls is star stitch following a pattern from La Mode Illustree, 1867
Working a crochet piece to the contours of a paper pattern was challenging, but fun.
I can’t imagine how long it took you to crotchet this. What skill!
