Outline the story …

As I was walking to the car one morning, I saw a spider web woven between the rose bush and the porch. It was soft and elegant while being structured and strong. This inspired me, along with the black widow spider from Charlotte's Web, to create a design mimicking an upside down rose. The fitted bodice shows the integrity of the web, accompanied by the soft and elegant velvet I used to create the gown.

Outline the construction…

I draped and drafted my design to get my pattern, made fit adjustments in the mock phase. This was my first time working with velvet, which was challenging. I had to watch a few YouTube tutorials on how to use it. The lining is made of cotton and I put a few layers of stiff tulle to give the skirt volume. I also chose to use a two piece "leg of mutton" sleeve that gathers at the elbow.

Well done for tackling and taming the velvet in your gown thats a fabulous achievement and the change in texture and shape into the hem looks lovely.
