Harrowhark, Reverend Daughter of Drearbrugh
Outline the story …
Harrowhark Nonagesimus, Reverend Daughter of the Ninth House and guardian of the Locked Tomb is an exceptionally powerful and committed necromancer seeking to become Lyctor, the gesture and fist of the Necrolord Prime. As much as she doesn’t want to admit it, she needs help.
Harrow is first introduced as an antagonist in Gideon the Ninth, and then as the protagonist in Harrow the Ninth, where the reader learns more of her character. Here, I depict her character in the black robes of the Ninth House seen in the first book, since this is much closer to the heart of who Harrow is.
Outline the construction…
There were a lot of firsts for me in this submission. This is the first time I worked with a period pattern, made major alterations, used cording and worked with leather.
For the robe, I chose to adjust an 1880s mantle pattern from Ageless Patterns (#1001), adding to make it full length, deepening the hood and sleeves, and cutting back the front for an open robe effect. The Ninth House is a strange and distant religious house, declining in material standing, so I used vintage fabrics to display a bit of age, with a rough wool exterior to display their religious austerity, and a sateen lining to show her regal status. Of course, there are pockets for her bone rosary and notebook.
Harrow is nothing if not practical, so the corset (Celia, Corsets by Caroline) is mostly made with coutil and leather and has a sleek rather than curvy form. The corded sateen panels give a ribbed effect to represent her status as a bone magician, and the embroidered skull at the center front, her devotion to that which lies within the tomb.
I love this!! The lace details on the cloak are incredible. And also I would die for Harrow.
The tassel on the hood is such a lovely detail. The cape is wonderful. I wasn’t expecting someone to depict the Ninth characters in this competition but you gave me life!
Oh, I’m so glad someone made Harrow! That makes me so happy.
Those details are wonderful! And the all black look gives off such an elegant vibe, love it❤
Great quality and gorgeous look. Congratulation on doing this project! I love the cape
