Outline the story …
My inspiration was Orphic Hymn 9
https://www.hellenion.org/selene/orphic-hymn-9-to-selene/ ) about Selene the Goddess. I've always wanted to make a beautiful item of clothing that is blue and silver or (gold) that personifies the night sky and the moon.
Outline the construction…
It is a self drafted pattern, it was a challenge to fit it as I'd never made a dress pattern before. And I didn't really make a mockup... which would've helped.
Velvet is such a pretty fabric with such a deep variable colour, but it's a pain to work with. It sheds everywhere, you've got to be cautious of the grain so that you don't get different colours. It curls and is challenging to cut. It is also incredibly difficult to get good photos of. But making this helped me learn a little more about how to work with it (I've found cutting from the non-fuzzy side helps).
I couldn't figure out the sleeves so it's sleeveless.
The crown was also self made, and that hurt my fingers to work on! But I think it makes the outfit complete.
