What if Pippin (LOTR) was a girl?!

Outline the story …
Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien has always been my favorite book. My friends and I went to all the midnight premiers of the movies dressed in costume. Being the shortest of my group, I was the designated hobbit. I chose to be Pippin Took because he is the most like me; very helpful when needed, but also a bit of a mess. Always causing mischief. For this project, I decided to envision Pippin as a female. Since Tolkien doesn't describe clothing very often, aside from mentioning that most of the hobbits are wearing waistcoats and cloaks, I took my inspiration more from the movies. At least for colors. Any depiction of hobbits has the males in short pants, button down shirts and vests. The female hobbits tend to have midi-length skirts with lots and lots of gathers. I decided to combine the two sexes by making a gathered skirt, tailored button down and vest. Really, I made the undergarments because I needed an excuse to make the combinations. I didn't mind mixing decades, since this is a fantasy novel. I thought Pippin would put comfort and style first, and the combinations and stays are very comfortable.
Outline the construction…
There is a total of five pieces in this outfit; combinations, transitional stays, tailored shirt, skirt and vest. The combinations were drafted from a tutorial on this site and made from 100% cotton. I have no clue about the trims, as they were from my grandmother's stash. The stays are a mix of decades. The shirt was taken from a pattern on Mood's sewsiety, the vest is a pattern from Etsy. All garments were sewn on a machine (Janome HD-1000) and finished by hand. I did so many hours of flat felling...my hand still hurts. I did have issues in fit, but that was mainly because I have recently gained a lot of weight (the COVID snacking was real over here) and I don't know how to fit to this new body.
You nailed if Pippin was a female. The earthy colour palette is also well considered.

Lord of the Rings is also my favourite book! I can definitely see a female Pippin wearing this, very sensible Hobbit attire! Also love the combinations, the cream colour with the delicate lace trim is lovely! (I’ve been planning to make a pair myself, and, when I finally get round to it, hope they look half as good as yours!)
